Usui Reiki Ryoho

Usui Reiki Ryoho Classes and Reiki Practice Meetings — Traditional Japanese Reiki Training

Reiki training at California Reiki

Usui Reiki Ryoho Classes are for everyone — the teachings are just as easy to learn as with other forms of Reiki. The key difference is that you will learn Reiki the traditional way, as it was taught in Japan before it came to the West in 1938. These Reiki classes aim to teach you the practice of Reiki as Mikao Usui, the founder of the system of Reiki, practiced during his lifetime.

Discover the techniques and methods that originated directly from Japan: learn the traditional Japanese energetic system which focuses on the Hara, discover the original form of the initiations (attunements) known as the reiju and how and when these were used, understand the original role of the shirushi (symbols) and the importance of jumon (mantras), and experience the integral role played by Japanese poetry expressed in the delicate yet profound form known as waka.

Usui Reiki Ryoho Classes for Donations!

We do ask for a deposit and we do suggest an appropriate donation for all Usui Reiki Ryoho Classes; one that reflects the additional expertise required of the teacher and the value of the classes being taught, but you remain free to choose the amount donated. Remember: Our aim is to make Reiki accessible to everyone and according to each person's circumstances. We gladly put our trust in you to donate an amount that is right for you, and which you feel adequately reflects the value of the teachings.

Remember too that a portion of all donations received is shared with charity.

Integral too, is that the whole focus of the Usui Reiki Ryoho teachings is different from that of Reiki as taught in the West. Usui Reiki Ryoho (which translates as Usui Spiritual Energy Healing Method) is centered on personal development and spirituality. The original teachings of Usui Reiki Ryoho will connect you closely with Reiki's traditional spiritual path. It will embark you on a personal spiritual journey that will help you to become happier and healthier, and to spread these gifts to those around you.

If you are more interested in learning the popular Western form of Reiki based on the techniques developed by Reiki Masters after the practice was brought to the West by Hawayo Takata, please take a look at our Usui Reiki Healing Classes instead.

“Attunement is just the beginning and the real ability is to develop on your own [with personal practice].”

— Excerpt from Modern Reiki Method for Healing by Hiroshi Doi taken from The Reiki Sourcebook by Bronwen and Frans Stiene

Develop yourself spiritually, and as a person — a journey to self discovery

With Usui Reiki Ryoho, all courses are traditionally considered to be an introduction to that level. Each course provides a stepping stone to greater understanding, and to a deeper connection to the source; the journey thereafter is yours to make. For this reason, all Usui Reiki Ryoho students are asked to continue practicing, for it is in the practicing that true understanding may be reached. It is a road to personal empowerment, spiritual development, and to a clear way of thinking; it is a journey to self discovery.

Usui Reiki Ryoho Practice Meetings are regularly organized so that you may join us in practicing the art of Japanese Reiki, the traditional way. (Please see further down this page for more information on the Usui Reiki Ryoho Practice Meetings.)

Shoden Level I, Okuden Level II, and Shinpiden Level III Master/Teacher Classes

More information about the traditional Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho Classes, Shoden Level I, Okuden Level II, and Shinpiden Level III/Master Classes that we teach can be found by following these links:

  • Reiki Shoden Level I Class (first teachings)The Shoden Reiki Class (Shoden means “first teachings” in Japanese) is for absolute beginners or those familiar with other types of energy work, and will teach you about energy through hands–on experience and the use of traditional Japanese Reiki meditation techniques. Rediscover what it means to be human as we begin learning the simple yet powerful self–healing techniques of the Five Elements of the System of Reiki.
  • Reiki Okuden Level II Class (inner teachings)The Okuden Reiki Class (Okuden means “inner teachings”) is for Usui Reiki Ryoho Level I practitioners who want to deepen their knowledge and connection to Mikao Usui's teachings. Learn the traditional meaning and practice of shirushi (symbols) and jumon (mantras), discover how to connect to Heaven and Earth energy or Ki (ideas that have been central to Japanese culture, religion, and philosophy since ancient times) while exploring the meaning of Oneness with the universe. The concept of Oneness is in fact central to understanding the original meaning of distant healing which so often is misperceived in the West. The Okuden Reiki course will expand and intensify your personal and spiritual connection to the essence of Reiki.
  • Reiki Shinpiden Level III Class (mystery teachings)The Shinpiden Reiki Class (Shinpiden means “mystery teachings”) is for Usui Reiki Ryoho Level II practitioners who wish to become Reiki Masters or Teachers. This is the final level of the system of Reiki, but it marks the beginning of a life–long path that will richly reward you should you continue to bring its teachings into your daily life. The emphasis of the Shinpiden class is personal development, of teaching you the final elements of the system of Reiki, and in laying the foundations from which to build should you decide that you wish to pursue the role of a teacher of the traditional Japanese system of Reiki. You will no longer view Reiki as a lifetime practice; instead life will become your practice of Reiki.

Reiki Practice Meetings — Come and practice Usui Reiki Ryoho with others!

As with all forms of Reiki, it is the path that you follow that becomes the life–enriching experience. It is a way of life that most students who are drawn to Reiki will embrace and take joy from, perhaps for the rest of their lives.

“After practicing for a while, if we feel discouraged or tired because of how far we are from the goal of our spiritual journey, we should look back at our life in the days before we started training and celebrate any progress we have made.”

— Excerpt from The Healing Power of the Mind by Tulku Thondup taken from The Reiki Sourcebook by Bronwen and Frans Stiene
