Q. What is Reiki?
A. Reiki was developed in Japan by Mikao Usui in the early 1900's. It is a system that supports spiritual growth, promotes relaxation, and has many healing benefits. Reiki is listed as a complementary therapy by NCCAM (the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine), which is one of the U.S. Government's National Institutes of Health (NIH). Today Reiki is offered as a complementary therapy in many hospitals and clinics. You can read more information about Reiki on my About Me and Reiki page, or in Yadira Talks.
Q. What is a Reiki Session like?
A. I have written an article that answers this question: What is a Reiki session like?
Q. Should I learn Western style Reiki, or the traditional Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho style?
A. Only you can truly answer this question. If you are interested in the Western influences such as the chakra system, auras, and other alternative energetic elements that have been added to the system of Reiki over the years, then perhaps the Western style Usui Reiki Healing Classes will appeal more to you. If you are more interested in learning the traditional Japanese system of Reiki as practiced by the founder, Mikao Usui, with the focus on traditional Japanese philosophies and teachings and centered on the energetic system of the Hara and meridians, then the traditional Usui Reiki Ryoho Classes may appeal more to you. Some people decide to learn both.
Q. Why don't you charge for your services?
A. I'd like to make Reiki accessible to everyone. People come from all kinds of backgrounds: some are rich, some are poor, some are enjoying life, and others are going through hard times. I don't want money to be an obstacle for anyone who wants to benefit from Reiki, so I simply trust people to choose a donation they feel is appropriate to their circumstances, and to the value of the services they receive. Driving this principle of donations for Reiki services is Shared Healing.
Q. Why do some services require a deposit?
A. The majority of my services do not require deposits, including Reiki Sessions, Distance Reiki Sessions, most Western Reiki Classes and Workshops, and Usui Reiki Ryoho Practice Meetings. Currently, deposits are only needed for the Usui Reiki Ryoho Classes and the Western style Reiki Master Class to cover the additional costs required in offering these specialized services to you, and you remain free to donate an appropriate amount thereafter if you wish.
Q. What is Tipping for Charity?
A. I share all donations received for my Reiki services with charity. That means that whenever you donate something to me in exchange for a Reiki service, I will share some of that amount with charity. The contributions that go to charity are what I call “Tipping for Charity”. You can read more about this on my Donations Page.
Q. Why do you support the Save the Children charity?
A. Save the Children is a very well established organization helping needy families and children across the U.S. and abroad. I like them because they support many worthy causes, respond quickly to emergencies such as famine and natural disasters, and because most of the funds donated to Save the Children reaches the needy and is not lost in administration. You can find out more by visiting their website: www.savethechildren.org
Q. How do I cancel a booking?
A. To cancel a booking, simply email or call me. Details are on the Contact Me page. Please note the Cancellation Policy below.
Q. What is the Cancellation Policy?
A. Please note that a minimum of 48 hours notice is required for all cancellations. For all services that do not require a deposit, we additionally have the following Cancellation Policy:
48 hours minimum notice required for all cancellations. If you cancel after that time (or don't turn up), then we ask that you make up for it by donating an amount of your choosing which will go entirely to the Save the Children charity. If you decide not to donate for a late cancellation, we may give priority to other customers in future, or in repeat cases, refrain from offering you further services.
Since we do not charge you in advance or take deposits for these services, we hope you will find this to be a very fair and friendly cancellation policy, which will also benefit the needy. The amounts donated for late cancellations go entirely to charity — we do not keep any part of them.
