Movement in nature is a main source of inspiration for Master Takase. On a long trip away in overcast and rainy Washington she reminisced of Kaneohe Bay. Of the image that became the inspiration for Wind in Blue she says “The color of Kaneohe bay on O'ahu is always a study in blue — sometimes turquoise, sometimes deep blue. Sometimes every shade at once. I was missing this blue and the light of Hawaii.”
