Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, Eri Takase has trained in traditional Japanese Calligraphy since the age of six. In 1989 she attained the rank of shihan (Master) with the Bokuteki–kai and the Bunka–shodo, two of Japan's most prestigious calligraphic societies.
Ki (inner energy), mushin (no mindedness), and seishintoitsu (unifying one's spirit) are essential to creating each work. These are elements of the Japanese energetic system that are common to all traditional Japanese arts, including Reiki. Of hara, Master Takase explains “When I say that hara is the wellspring of Ki, this is not an abstraction — I see and feel it.”
