After practicing the Reiki Hand Positions, it is always good to just let go and allow intuition to guide the placement of the hands. With practice, practitioners begin to sense where the hands need to go and often themselves feel physical sensations in their own bodies as the hands move to different areas. The hands are kept in each area until the practitioner senses that it is time to move to another area.
The use of fixed Reiki Hand Positions is commonly taught, and they are useful for treating specific areas of the body. Mikao Usui developed a number of hand positions, but also favored the development of intuitive hand placements.
The private Reiki room is usually used to give personal Reiki Sessions. California Reiki students practiced giving complete treatments during the California Reiki Anniversary Workshop, which was one of the special events organized to mark the anniversary of California Reiki.
